Outside of loose skin, aging, and excess fat, a concern patients most often see a cosmetic surgeon for is cellulite. Most commonly seen in women, cellulite will affect most women at some point in their lifetime. Unfortunately, while many cellulite treatments exist, relatively few effective cellulite treatments exist. Most recently, a new cellulite treatment known as Aveli was cleared by the FDA. Cameo Surgery Center is delighted to be among the first on Long Island to provide this non-invasive, effective cellulite treatment. Cameo Surgery Center provides the best Aveli cellulite reduction Long Island & NYC offers.
Cellulite is a depression of any shape or size with defined edges seen on the surface of the skin, typically on the buttocks or thighs. The underlying cause of cellulite is the fibrous bands that tether your skin to fat, muscle, and other structures. These bands are called septa. Septa are a normal and necessary part of the anatomy. Yet, sometimes they stiffen or shrink over time. This leads to the dimples seen on the surface of the skin—also known as cellulite.
Cellulite is not a health concern or dangerous in any way. However, it can harm a patient’s self-esteem or even tarnish the results of cosmetic surgeries like liposuction or a BBL. Removing, moving, or transferring fat in cellulite areas can change how cellulite dimples look. In some cases, it improves or eliminates them. However, in others, it makes them worse or creates them.
When performing these procedures, it is nearly impossible to predict how the septa will react. The only way to know cellulite is effectively treated involves going underneath the skin, identifying the septa causing the dimple, and severing it to loosen the tautness. This is the philosophy behind Aveli®.
Around 90% of women will experience cellulite at some point in their lives. It is perfectly normal regardless of weight, stature, activity levels, and general lifestyle. However, under 10% experience cellulite and it is an overall much rarer occurrence for men than for women. Why do men not get cellulite?
The answer comes down to the arrangement of the septa. Women have septa that are aligned vertically. Therefore, changes in the septa’s environment, even minute ones, can cause it to become tight and shorten over time. Men, on the other hand, have a criss-cross structure of septa. This prevents them from stiffening or tightening in the same way as the septa do in women. Though, it is not impossible for men to experience cellulite, it is not common.
Cellulite has many possible causes. In fact, it is unlikely that we fully understand or know all of the causes of cellulite. However, there are many known causes of cellulite. Unfortunately, in most cases, it is impossible to prevent or account for these changes. Some of the causes of cellulite include:
Lifestyle factors such as a lack of physical activity or good diet can lead to more cellulite. However, this is likely correlated more with the weight changes that come with an unhealthy lifestyle or a major change in lifestyle. Losing weight and “getting healthy” can cause cellulite too.
Aveli is a non-surgical, minimally invasive cellulite reduction tool that uses a small cannula with an attached barb to identify and sever cellulite causing septa. It is usually performed under local anesthesia, but can be administered under general anesthesia if necessary. Patients generally remain perfectly comfortable during the procedure. It often takes under an hour.
Aveli® treats and reduces cellulite in three steps:
Patients can undergo multiple areas of Aveli® cellulite treatment at once. Most healthy women who present with any severity of cellulite may benefit from Aveli cellulite reduction in Long Island.
After Long Island Aveli® treatment, patients may experience mild side effects such as bruising, swelling, and tenderness. These to resolve within a few days to weeks, but generally do not hinder the patient significantly. As a non-surgical procedure, little aftercare is necessary. Though, recommendations following Aveli cellulite reduction may include:
‍
Maybe, but so far, patients treated with Aveli have enjoyed their results for years. Treating existing cellulite also does not prevent new cellulite from forming later on. Compared to other types of cellulite treatment, Aveli is among the longest lasting, if not the longest lasting cellulite treatment currently available.
Aveli is an FDA-cleared treatment which means it can be used to treat cellulite by a qualified provider.
No, unlike other cellulite treatments, patients only need one session to see a significant reduction in cellulite. If patients choose to undergo additional Aveli treatments, it is generally to address cellulite outside of the initial treatment area or new cellulite dimples.
Thus, Aveli is one of the more cost effective cellulite treatments that actually works. It is a no-nonsense treatment meant to address cellulite from the source instead of addressing the surface of the skin.

Cellulite occurs in women of all sizes. Even for women who maintained a relatively stable weight their entire lives, cellulite is likely to occur during their lifetime. While major weight changes—gain or loss—put patients at a higher likelihood of developing cellulite, many other factors such as hormones, genetics, and age factor into the formation of cellulite.
During the procedure, dimpled skin often visibly resolves as the provider severs the offending septa. However, swelling and bruising will disguise the results. Aveli cellulite reduction results should be visible once swelling and bruising subsides. By one-month post-procedure, you should start to see the effects of Aveli cellulite treatment.
